Trotamunda.blogspot

I’d like to recommend the website of one of my best friends, travel writer Maribel Herruzo. It’s written in Spanish, but even if you don’t speak the language, I can safely say that if you have a passion for globetrotting – the name of the website – you’ll enjoy looking at her excellent photos.

And for those of you who do speak Spanish: Maribel es Periodista free lance especializada en temas relacionados con los viajes y esta pequeña gran ventana es su portfolio de propuestas...

GB Interior design

Whether you have recently moved to a new home, or you just wish to improve the spatial layout of your home or business - this particular interior design services company can help. It is a small firm that carries out design and building works by qualified interior designers, under the supervision of Gus Balague, an interior designer from Barcelona whose background and skills are as diverse as the sities in which he has lived.

Over the last three years the company has designed and developed residential projects in London, together with securing design work for commercial environments. That is what it says on his website and, take it from me, Gus Balague is very, very good at what he does. Of course he is. He's my brother.

A life away from football.....

One of the advantages of having my own website is that it allows me to explore some of my other interests away from football.

While I'm on my travels as a journalist, I'm fortunate enough to be able to experience some amazing Cities, hotels and restaurants: not to mention one or two bottles of my favourite wines. Over the coming months I'd like to share my thoughts on some of those experiences with you...

Resting & relaxation

I spend most of my time commuting each week between Barcelona and London (or some other Spanish city) so it's vital for me to wind down from time to time.  I have a villa in southern Spain which is in the countryside with its own swimming pool; it's an ideal place for me to relax and switch off the mobile phones!  It's just a shame that I can't be there a bit more often!
Why not enjoy a visit there yourself?

A little gem in the Costa Brava

Now that my parents prefer to spend more time in their flat in Antequera, the lovely area in Andalucia where my mother is from, they have also decided to put up for rent their holiday home, a little gem in my favourite corner of the world: the Costa Brava. Take a look, it’s in a great location in the hills, a short drive to the beach and is somewhere that I enjoyed many great summer holidays
Its also very easy to get to as well, just 30 minutes from Girona airport or 80 minutes from Barcelona.

Federico García Lorca by María Delgado

I have been asked many times to recommend books about Spanish culture or lifestyle. I will be doing so in the next few weeks, starting with this jewell, a book by my very good friend María Delgado.

Immortalized in death by The Clash, Pablo Neruda, Salvador Dalí, Dmitri Shostakovich and Lindsay Kemp, Federico García Lorca's spectre haunts both contemporary Spain and the cultural landscape beyond. Institutionalized as of one of the Spanish language's most resonant dramatists, his plays have come to represent Spain itself on the international stage.
This study offers a fresh examination of one of the Spanish language’s most resonant voices; exploring how the very factors which led to his emergence as a cultural icon also shaped his dramatic output.
Federico García Lorca is an invaluable new resource for those seeking to understand this complex and multifaceted figure: artist, playwright, director, poet, martyr and in the eyes of many, Spain’s ‘national dramatist’.
