It is quite possible that Chelsea may play a part in deciding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United.
The player has now given Real Madrid the green light, and has told the La Liga champions that he wants them to approach Manchester United over a transfer. However, there is still a long way to go before a deal can be done and Real Madrid have a problem: they have applied to two different banks in an attempt to secure €65 million in capital to finance a bid, but they have been turned down by both financial institutions.
This means that, in order to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Madrid will need to raise funds through the sale of Robinho, Saviola, Soldado and Baptista. The greater sum of that money will come from the sale fo Robinho, and with Chelsea keen on signing the Brazilian, it may well be that Roman Abramovich’s money will determine where Cristiano Ronaldo ends up playing football next season.
